Historically, the Rhinelands refers (physically speaking) to a loosely-defined arena all-embracing the acreage on either coffer of the River Rhine in axial Europe. Added afresh the Rhineland (Rheinland in German) has become the accepted name for areas of Germany forth the average and lower Rhine in Germany amid Bingen and the Dutch border, or amid the assemblage with the Neckar and Cologne. To the west the breadth stretches to the borders with Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands; on the eastern ancillary it alone encompasses the towns and cities forth the river. Except for the Saar this breadth added or beneath corresponds with the avant-garde use of the term.
